The San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park, CA

The San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park is an excellent tourist spot of San Francisco, holding loads of natural splendors. This amazing park includes various sections like - Historic vessel fleet, a Research library, a visitor center and a maritime museum.

Historic Vessel fleet: Moored at the park's Hyde Street Pier, the Historic vessel fleet includes major vessels like Balclutha, C.A. Thaye, Eureka, Alma, Hercules and Eppleton Hal.

Research Library: This part of the park chiefly focuses on sail and steam on the West Coast of the United States and the Pacific Basin from 1520 to the present. Its huge collection contains archived records of many ship builders and ship owners, 1,500 feet of documents, 120,000 vessel and shipyard architectural drawings an about 5,000 charts & maps.

Visitor Center: This center includes exhibits like a first order Fresnel lighthouse lens and a shipwrecked boat which tell the story of San Francisco’s colorful and diverse maritime heritage. Besides, it also houses a theater, the Sailor's Den and a ranger-staffed information desk.

Maritime Museum: Housed in a Streamline Moderne, Maritime Museum was originally built in 1936 by the WPA as a public bathhouse. But today it is a major part of San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park, including various sections. One if its main section houses three photomurals of the early San Francisco waterfront, lithographic stones, scrimshaw and whaling guns etc.
