Established in 1974, the San Francisco Cable Car Museum is run by the Friends of the Cable Car Museum. This is one of the best tourist spots in Nob Hill, which is a neighborhood of San Francisco, California. And so this museum has its entrance at Washington.
The Cable Car Museum is an absolutely free museum. It is mainly popular for housing historical and explanatory exhibits on the San Francisco cable car system. It features several examples of old cable cars along with smaller exhibits and a shop.
The tow cable cars displayed in the museum are - Clay Street Hill Railroad - grip car 8, the only surviving car from the first cable car company and Sutter Street Railway - grip car 46 and trailer 54 dating from the 1870s.
Apart from these, the Cable Car Museum contains cable car power house that includes the cables, and the car depot and also exhibits artifacts, photos and historical information.
